Day 15 - being found

Short blog today because Ive got a splitting headache.

I was doing a Jo Jingles birthday party yesterday.  I was given and address of a house in the middle of the countryside only ten minutes from home.  So I set off in plenty of time, found the road and started to look at house numbers so I could find the right one.   Unfortunately people in Northern Ireland seem somewhat averse to putting numbers on their gateposts.  So quite regularly I find myself driving up and down country roads trying to work out which house is which.  And I often wonder how on earth the emergency services manage if they are ever called out to any of these places.   On the road I was on this morning none of the houses between 25 and 44 were numbered!

SO the thought for the day is this.  Its hard to be found if you dont show any signs that you want to be found.

What do you need this Christmas?  Do you need some practical help with your kids or the housework or babysitters so you can go on the works night out?  Do you need some company?  Do you need financial help to get you through till the next pay packet?  Do you want to say no to someone who has asked you to do something, but find you can't?  Do you need someone to listen as you offload some angst?  We all need things.  But unless you tell someone what you need - well, it just makes it harder for people to see and meet your needs.   This is true in marraiges and with close friendships and family relationships.  Just because you live with someone doesnt mean you can see their needs.  We are all rather good at hiding.

So today, and in the run up to Christmas I challenge you to put your number on your gatepost.  It doesnt have to be a big flashing neon sign saying '  IM NEEDY'   but it does need to be enough so that when God sends out His emergency services, they can find you .
