Day 11 - Good news
Over the past few weeks Ive spent alot of time with various people who are going through tough times. Lots of people have been really very unwell. There are a few really horrid bugs going about. And then Ive had other friends who have suffered bereavements and others who are really struggling with work related stuff. All of a sudden today I felt a bit overwhelmed by it all. Im very thankful that right now everything in my life is relatively fine. None of the Hamiltons have had any of the bugs that are doing the rounds, and we are all happy enough in our jobs and the rest of life is stress free ( for now) But its hard to see friends struggling and its hard when each day it feels like theres more bad news coming round every corner. What I need is some good news.

We all need good news. Not just THE GOOD NEWS, salvation and redemption and freedom and healing, but the tiny daily incidences of goodness which keep us going through the daily grind. We need to occasionally find that amazing bargain , overhear something really funny in a shop, smile at a baby, watch our favourite film, hang out with people who are good for our souls. We need these constant small reminders that life is good. People are good. There is plenty to smile about.
This Christmas may we all experience Good News. Both in the birth of a saviour who has redeemed us from the reign of sin and death, and in the small daily reminders of the blessings God has poured out for us. In friends and food and gifts. In sunshine and birdsong and babies. In Christmas films and Christmas crackers and maybe even in snow. Let us keep our eyes and hearts open to the goodness of God in the small things so that we can be full of positivity and strength when we stand with those who are going through tough times.
